1. First, I would suggest taking the time for yourself every day, even for a few minutes.
2. My second tip is to think about what activities you used to enjoy and which gave you some sense of relief, relaxation or nourishment and stopped doing them. It could be running, swimming, reading, journaling, singing, etc.
3. Physical exercise and creative activities are hugely important in our self-care.
4. If you have ever done any physical activity, browse around. I am sure there are plenty of gyms, sports centres, or organized group outings you can check out.
5. There are plenty of options online if you cannot go to the gym or rather do the workout by yourself.
6. Yoga and Pilates are known as the best workouts. Both of them are great for body and mind. For people who are not spiritual, Pilates would be a better choice. I find both of them excellent.
7. When discussing self-care, don't forget that cooking, reading, and more slow-paced activities are great for relaxing after a hard day.
8. Even the "boring" housework can be part of our self-care. Using these routine activities, we can practise mindfulness, that's it, to be here and in the now.
9. Take the time to reflect on the day went by. How did it go? How am I feeling? What do I need to do tomorrow to feel better if I am feeling down? Would you have done things differently? What have I learnt today?
10. Finally, don't forget that you are unique, with your abilities and limitations. Life can be very challenging at times. Look into yourself. What helps at difficult times? What gives you a sense of belonging? What gives you meaning in life?
