Multicultural Counselling
Embracing Diversity and Differences
I provide a universal approach to therapy that acknowledges the profound impact of cultural background and identity on mental health. Multicultural counseling addresses the unique challenges faced by clients whose ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual expression, disability status, or other social factors set them apart from the dominant group (Psychology Today).
As a multicultural psychotherapist, I incorporate into my sessions critical social factors such as stigma, stereotyping, marginalization, sexism, and racism. I am a proud member of the International Association of Counseling (IAC) and have completed various courses through IAC, including Transcultural Counseling and Intercultural Competencies in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and IACP. I am also currently participating in an online workshop with WHO on Mental Health, Human Rights, and Disability.
Being part of a minority group myself, I understand firsthand the importance of a multicultural approach that integrates clients’ cultural backgrounds and social contexts as core elements of therapy. Since 2018, I have had the privilege of working with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
I celebrate diversity, and I welcome you just as you are. 🏳️🌈
