When the Body Remembers: The Healing Power of Movement
Over time, I came to realize something important—something you might resonate with too: the body knows. It knows what it needs to heal, ground itself in difficult times, regulate, and reconnect us with who we were and who we are.
For a long time, I didn’t understand why I felt better when I was moving, travelling, swimming, or dancing. It was as if my body found relief in movement. Only later did I realize that movement wasn’t just a distraction; it was a pillar. A pillar without pressure but intensely regulating.
As a child, I loved swimming and dancing. I still remember those summers in La Rioja so clearly—how happy I was going to swimming lessons. I didn’t get to attend as many as I would have liked, but one thing stuck with me: the instructor telling me I had potential. Years later, after going through a depressive episode in my teens, it was swimming, along with therapy, that held me emotionally. That helped me begin to heal.
Travelling also became a form of medicine. It took me years to understand that my body felt most balanced and alive while in motion, in transition, discovering new places. It's no coincidence that I became pregnant while travelling or shortly after a trip. My body knew before I did.

Later on, I discovered contemporary dance and fell in love with it. It made me feel powerful, alive, free. Sadly, a serious car accident left me bedridden for a long time, and I never returned to those classes. However, over time, I discovered other ways to move—first through Pilates and later, yoga, which has become one of my most cherished practices. Yoga lets me imagine I’m dancing again. I move with music, with flow, at my own pace—without obstacles.
Today, I recognize movement as one of my inner pillars. Swimming, dancing, travelling
... these aren’t just hobbies. They’re ways I connect deeply with my body and my story. They are emotional regulators that come not from pressure or perfectionism, but from pleasure and embodiment.
Sometimes I imagine myself dancing ballet, sometimes I just close my eyes and let myself be carried by the music. And in those moments, I feel strong. I feel free.
🌟 Highlight quote:
"Movement is not just physical—it’s emotional. It’s a way to heal, to remember, and to come home to yourself."
💬 Reflection:
What did your inner child love to do?Is your body trying to speak to you in ways you haven’t yet noticed?
The body doesn’t forget. Sometimes it just waits… for us to begin moving again.
